How I can help...

When Life Feels Difficult...

Counselling can help you understand what's happening beneath the surface

People come to therapy for many different reasons.

You may be struggling with something happening now, carrying experiences from your past, noticing the same patterns appearing in your relationships, or simply have a sense that something isn't quite right.
You don't need a diagnosis or a clear explanation for how you're feeling.

We can begin with where you are.

ATTACHMENT & RELATIONSHIP PATTERNS

Relationships can bring some of our strongest emotions to the surface.

You might fear rejection, struggle with boundaries, need reassurance, put other peoples needs before your own or find yourself withdrawing just when somebody becomes emotionally close.

Therapy can help us become curious about these patterns rather than judging them, exploring what you have learnt about closeness, trust, emotional safety and relationships.

TRAUMA & CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES

Sometimes experiences from the past continue to affect us long after the events themselves have passed.

You may experience anxiety, find it difficult to trust, feel constantly alert, shut down emotionally or notice recurring difficulties within relationships.

You might simply carry a persistent feeling that somehow you are "not enough"

My trauma-informed approach allows us to explore what happened, how you adapted and how those experiences may still be affecting you today, at a pace that feels manageable.

SHAME, SELF-WORTH & INNER CRITIC

Perhaps there is an inner voice telling you:

"Im not good enough."
"I'm too much."
"I've let everyone down."

Or simply:
"There's something wrong with me."
Shame can influence the way we see ourselves without us even recognising it.
Therapy can help you explore where these beliefs came from and begin moving towards a more compassionate and realistic relationship with yourself.

ANXIETY, LOW MOOD & FEELING OVERWHELMED

Anxiety and low mood can affect relationships, work, sleep, confidence and our ability to enjoy life.

Sometimes managing the symptoms is important. But we can also become curious about what may be sitting underneath those feelings and why particular situations,
thoughts or experiences affect you so strongly.

GRIEF, LOSS & LIFE CHANGES

Loss isn't limited to bereavement.

The ending of a relationship, changes in health, children leaving home, caring responsibilities, retirement, work changes and other life transitions can all bring feelings of grief, uncertainty or loss of identity.

Therapy offers somewhere to make sense of what has changed and what it means for you.

WHEN YOU FEEL STUCK

Sometimes we know exactly what we want to change, yet still can't seem to change it.

Rather than seeing this as weakness or self-sabotage, we can become curious.

Perhaps one part of you desperately wants change while another is frightened of what that change might mean.

Understanding the why behind the what can help make sense of this inner conflict and create space for change without judgement.

OTHER AREAS I WORK WITH

I also support people experiencing stress, anger, low self-esteem, relationship
difficulties, work pressures, compulsive behaviours, caring responsibilities,

chronic illness and significant life transitions.

Whatever brings you to therapy, our starting point is you.
